If you have pests at home, they are the most vulnerable targets of pests. Pest control becomes mandatory when kids face a lot of health problems all coming from pest infestation. There are certain habits that you need to make them learn if you really want a pest-free home. Not all, but there are few pests who create a lot of menace.

Following are few things you need to ask your kids to do before pest control is scheduled:

  • Remove or Lock All The Toys and Accessories

Kids’ rooms are full of toys and other accessories. Just before you have planned for pest control, instruct your kids to zip-lock or remove all their stuff. Any chemical exposure will create a lot of harmful effects on their health. Infants’ stuff should be taken out immediately or thrown if exposed to chemicals.

There are certain chemicals that do not get cleaned despite a rigorous wash.

  • Remove the Bed Sheets

Bed sheets and curtains in the kids’ rooms are the ones that need a rigorous wash after the pest control. However, the best thing is to ask your kids to remove them all before the pest control starts. Bed sheets, blankets and other clothing can easily absorb all the toxic chemicals.

If the kids sleep in the same bed soon after the pest control, it can lead to a lot of skin allergies or conditions and other chronic diseases.

  • Cover all the Clothes

Kids must be trained to arrange their clothes or put them for wash regularly. If you have scheduled pest control at your place, tell your kids to remove all their clothes from the room and keep them covered in a place where pest control is not required. Use plastic cloth covers to zip-lock the clothes as plastic covers do not allow any chemical or chemical residue to get on to the clothes.

If your kids wear the clothes that were exposed to toxic chemicals, the chances of getting skin allergies or diseases and other chronic health conditions can increase.

  • Remove All Food Items

Food is something that should be looked after at a greater priority before the pest control starts. If your kids have left any food or food item in their rooms, ask them to clear it off immediately. If any of the food items is exposed to the harsh chemicals during the pest control, ask them to throw it in the trash immediately.

Any such consumption can lead to fatal conditions like food poisoning and even death.

  • De-Clutter the Room

Tell your kids why de-cluttering is important before the pest control. Tell them the importance of pest control to access every nook and corner of their room. Kids’ room should be free of pests as some of them can be really harmful. Participate in organizing only the important stuff in the room so de-cluttering becomes easier.

De-cluttering is important to avoid pests across your living space. Hence, it should not be only the kids’ room from where clutter should be removed, but it should be done in the entire house.

  • Cover All the Electrical Devices

All the cables and wires should be tied with ties to avoid any mishap during the pest control. Kids’ play stations, computers and accessories, television, chargers and other electronic gadgets should be removed or covered before the pest control begins. If any of these things is exposed to the chemical sprays, they may stop working.

Chemicals, sometimes, result in the malfunctioning of the electronic devices if these are not covered.
